Blouse and cropped trousers

Blouses are great highly functioning wardrobe staples. They are versatile, professional stylish and on trend, just what we were looking for. However, traditional blouses can more than often look dowdy on larger busts (especially inverted triangle shapes).

This one from Oasis has the detailing to shape the clients silhouette. It is collarless, with a double faux opening, has an elasticized waist and some nice detailing on the sleeves, all working with the clients body shape. The colour is not what Ailish would usually go for but is additional colour that gives lift to her palette. 

The cropped trousers from A wear work proportionally well with the blouse. A good investment as will work in your wardrobe all year round. These are particularly good as they narrow below calf. 

Tip: Your garments should always narrow where you do (eg waist or like these trousers below calf)

Look 4:
 Black jacket cowl neck and cropped trousers

It’s good to step outside your style comfort zone and try something new. Ailish would never have considered wearing black (EVERYONE can wear black in some way) or that cropped trousers would suit her. This (triple black!!!) outfit is now the clients favorite. 

Each of the garments has tons of versatility and will gel well in any wardrobe.  Coordinated with these super pumps and satchel style bag it creates the functional modern professional stylish look we set out to achieve.

The crop high cut chain trimmed jacket is from Vero Moda (word of the day) versatile and what I would call understated funky. Looks great worn with the blouse and trousers as above, and equally well over the dresses. Dressed down with an over sized t-shirt, jeans/leggings and ankle boots will make it an on trend casual look.

Cowl neck tops look great on larger busts this one from A wear has a high cut so is good for work wear casual or evening. Although we shopped winter collections we did so bearing in mind that spring is around the corner. Each garment can be layered and be suitable for the transitional period from winter to spring. 

Ailish gave me a budget of €400 and was prepared to go to €600. This is a decent budget to start off with. She has received advice and tips that will last her a lifetime and will now be confident to shop for her shape and colour palette.

Here are my top tips on how to create a successful stylish wardrobe.

• Discover your body shape. This will allow you to decipher what shapes and cuts will suit you best
• Find your colour palette
• Think of key pieces..and how will work sustainably in your wardrobe. 
• Invest in quality clothing over fast fashion. 

Tip  To look your best wear what suits YOU Just because it is on trend or looks great in a magazine or on someone else doesn't mean it will work for you. ALWAYS wear what suits your shape this will enable you to feel comfortable and confident.( 2 essential ingredients to looking super stylish) 

Here is another look from a shopping spree with Ailish from Work it. We created a modern professional, versatile wardrobe.

Look 2:  Dress Closet from A wear.  €25 (bargain)

 This a great dress, the V neck line is super for Ailish's silhouette, as the soft pleating and cinched waist are perfect for inverted triangle shapes, would also work well for hour glass or pear shapes

V neck lines are great andsuit almost every woman but a word of caution ensure they sit neatly and have a high enough break to be professional. Cleavage at work is a no no.. as are uncomfortable clothes that need fixing every 10 minutes.

Here we have paired it simply with black opaque tights and a comfy black kitten heel court shoe. This dress has serious versatility and can be worn with a blazer or for a more casual wear it could be over a light polo neck with complimentary toned hosiery and statement accessories. 

It is also machine washable, will dry in reasonable time and won't crease!! As it was on sale we picked up 2 one in a print.

Work it..

Welcome to this my first new blog and thanks for stopping by.

Personal shopping and styling is not just about hot new fashion trends, it is about acquiring worthy purchases that suit the individual; to create a wardrobe and style that is functional and versatile for a lifestyle. 

With so much selection in the shops it can seem daunting to know what to look for, let alone where to start. My job is to guide a client, advice on what colours, shapes and styles will work for them, then devise a look that will flatter their figure, both physically and fiscally. 

The following is a good example of a personal shop. Thanks to my client Ailish for posing for the shots, such a natural ;) Caria in Clinique at Brown Thomas who did the makeup and Julia at wonderful life productions for the shots.

Ailish has what is called an inverted triangle shape, and finds shopping a chore as her top half is at least a size bigger than her lower half. Fab shape and great female curves but shaping her silhouette with a cinched waist is a must. High necks and loose fitting garments are unsuitable for this shape. I plan to draw the eye to the waist- line and decollete as well as make the most of her fab legs. 

Work wear needs to be convenient and versatile, dresses are a one stop handy number for throwing on first thing when don't want to think about an outfit. This plum/aubergine wool skater dress from Oasis fits our criterion nicely. It is tre on trend at the moment, versatile enough it can to be dressed up with heels and a blazer or down with pumps / pair of converse and a biker jacket.

 

Above the knee length can be risky for professional wear,  but the composition and style of this dress is acceptable with dark tights. Worn here with 60 opaque finely ribbed charcoal tights and accessorised simply with a string of dark pearls.  (all for the single strand of pearls these days)

As Ailish is a teacher it is best that her dress and jewelery is kept simple, but a statement bag is more than acceptable.

We are not all blessed with good long legs , but this is one of this clients best attributes, EVERYONE has at least one good attribute. This dress isn't for everyone it is great for her shape.

A basic requirement for work wear wardrobe is a blazer, they are practical and versatile and will always look chic and professional. Here is one I made earlier the deep warm colour palatte is perfect for Ailish and the rever and low break flatters her figure.

A wear do great dresses for curvy shapes. Look for v neck lines wrap or faux wrap dresses and tops.

Oasis is a step up in quality for high street shopping. Good for alternative work wear and outerwear.

Premoli This is my favorite shoe shop, ticks a balance of uniquely fashionable and classic. Good for stylish footwear and leather bags.
